For many years I've been a supporter of Formula 1, I've seen drivers come and go, teams come and go too. I'm not really sure what to think of the current climate in F1 as I tend to be one of those people that wants refuelling to return along with v8's or v12's screaming round the track at 18,000rpm.
Today's F1 is so different that I'm not sure what to really make of it. There is true talent, driver and technical staff but has it gone too far with its quest to win and has it left its fans feeling a little well.... disappointed?
For me the 2020 season was one where I lost interest halfway through the season, partly because I was sick and tired of 'the same old thing' combined with the fatigue of the Covid era. Over the winter I even considered changing my TV subscription to the basic pack and no longer getting an F1 feed, don't get me wrong though I still kept tabs on what was happening.
The along came Aston Martin Cogniziant team. The idea that such an iconic brand was coming back to F1 and with the great Sebastian Vettel peaked my interest. I've decided that I'm going to give F1 another chance this year, especially because AMF1 will compete but I'm also curious to see what impact the rule changes will have next year.
On another note I hope that Redbull Racing will give Mercedes a good run this year, they look very strong and have two great drivers in Max and Checo. I think this may be a year that we see Checo come out of his shell and have some fun in F1.
What will happen this year is anyones guess we will have to wait and see but it's less six days and as Crofty says 'and it's lights out and away we go'..
